По сути мы все знаем из фильмов, новостей и книг о том, что Американцы живут в кредит, но я никогда не понимала – для чего? Пока не начала жить здесь.
Так зачем же нужно жить в кредит?
На самом деле, все довольно просто. Рано или поздно человек задумывается о каких либо крупных покупках. Это может быть дом, машина, квартира, а может даже яхта 🙂
Зачастую, на такие покупки очень сложно сразу отложить деньги. Можно конечно попробовать, но средняя стоимость жилья очень часто превышает годичную зарплату человека в несколько десятков раз. Так что же делать?
Конечно же обращаться в банк. Как работают наши банки?
Так как наличие кредитной истории у человека в Украине — большая редкость, они не знают как вы распоряжаетесь деньгами, поэтому вам вымоют мозг, высушат его, потребуют сотни тысяч документов, кровь девственницы и засушенную лапку летучей мыши.
Ко всему этому добру еще и поставят такой процент интереса, что в случае вашей неуплаты, они не только получат обратно недвижимость/машину, но еще и сделают на вас очень неплохие деньги.
Как поступили в Америке? Как нормальные люди.
Здесь человек начинает свой путь во взрослую, или же в новую жизнь, если вы иммигрант – с построения кредитной истории. На протяжении долгого времени здесь учат брать и отдавать долг. Сначала на небольших суммах, в процессе дорастая до пятизначных чисел.
В зависимости от распоряжения данными вам деньгами, ваша кредитная история со временем получает оценку. От очень плохой до отличной. Как в школе. Только в этот раз оценка действительно влияет на вашу жизнь.
И вот, когда у вас появилась эта самая оценка, здесь то и открываются все карты.
Хотите купить машину? Ноутбук? Дом? — Банк сначала проверит, как вы относились к вашим кредитам и как вы возвращали деньги, а потом уже будет решать. Дать лм вам новенькую BMW с оплатой $200 в месяц, или же поднять вам месячную выплату до $600 за Б/У toyota corolla, потому что вы пропустили несколько оплат по вашей кредитной карточке.
Так же у жизни в кредит есть плюс и для вас. Пользуясь “кредитными” деньгами, вы исключаете факт кражи ваших личных денег. Если у вас украли кредитную карточку, то они украли деньги у банка, а не из вашего кармана. Вам достаточно заявить о пропаже, и по вашему адресу будет выслана новая карта.
С чего же начинать строить кредитную историю? Давайте пройдемся детальнее.
Получив свой SSN номер и не прочитав ничего в интернетах — я побежала в банк, радостно размахивая папкой с документами. В голове уже мелькал новый телефон, ноутбук и многое другое, что можно купить с заветной карточки и покрыть это все чуть позже.
Пришла я в банк Chase, объяснила, что номер социального страхования я получила 5 минут назад по почте и нуждаюсь в кредитке, ибо хочу быть достойным членом американского общества с настоящей кредитной карточкой.
Тетенька заполнила какую-то анкету на компьютере, нажала отправить и сказала, что банк отказал – не достаточно кредитной истории. Карточку мне сегодня не получить.
И тут до меня дошел весьма ироничный факт. Чтобы начать строить кредитную историю, нужно получить кредитную карточку – а чтобы получить кредитную карточку, нужно иметь кредитную историю 🙂
Какой же выход? Выхода два, в зависимости от вашей ситуации.
У вас в Штатах есть родственники, или вы приехали к жениху/невесте:
Тут все просто. Нужно добавить вас, как второстепенного пользователя к их уже существующей кредитной карте. В таком случае в вашей кредитной истории сразу появится запись об открытом аккаунте и уже через пару месяцев вы сможете открыть свою личную карточку в разы быстрее, чем если все начинать с нуля.
У вас никого нет и вы сами с усами:
В этой ситуации на помощь приходят депозитные кредитные карточки.
Система проста — вы кладете на карточку $200-$500 ваших кровных долларов и пользуетесь карточкой, каждый месяц возобновляя потраченные деньги. Если вы справились с этим упражнением хорошо, то через 5-6 месяцев банк вернет вам ваши депозитные деньги и у вас появится первая кредитная карточка “как у людей”.
Не во всех банках можно оформить такие карточки. Вам помогут в Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One — из тех, что я точно знаю.
У меня Capital One. Плюс в том, что ее можно оформить в интернете и одобряют на нее практически всех. Депозит в $50 открывает вам кредитную линию на $200. На первое время самое то. Но есть минус, который я сразу не учла – депозит не возвратный, пока вы не закроете карточку.
А так как это первая карта, ее закрывать категорически нельзя, потому что срок кредитной истории также очень сильно влияет на ваш рейтинг.
Поэтому я бы советовала брать карточку в банке, а не онлайн, чтобы при надлежащем пользовании вам ваш депозит вернули обратно.
А мои $100 депозита видимо канули в лета.
Заметка для тех, у кого нет социального номера страхования, но скоро должен появится!
Bank of America открывает депозитные кредитные карточки без SSN. Потом, когда ваш SSN появится, он автоматически подвяжется к вашей уже существующей кредитной истории и вы сможете пользоваться благами кредита намного раньше людей, которые пошли за карточками только по приходу номера соц страхования 🙂
И вот, представим что у вас появилась заветная карта.
Перерыв кучу информации, я, как обычно, практически все узнала на своем личном опыте. Как говорится — умные учатся на чужих ошибках, а я на своих.
- Самый важный пункт! Не пытайтесь открыть новую карточку, пока не пройдет 6 месяцев с появления вашей первой карты. А лучше подождите, пока банки вам начнут сами присылать предложения по почте. Вы просто зря поставите новую метку на кредите, а каждый раз, когда вы подаете заявку на кредитку, или кредит на машину — банк проверяет ваш кредитный рейтинг — и из-за этого он неминуемо падает.
- Старайтесь не тратить больше 30% от вашего кредитного лимита. Допустим, если у вас карточка на $250, не выходить за пределы $75. Процент использования кредитного лимита — один из самый важных факторов, которые влияют на кредитный рейтинг.
- В этом случае, конечно если у вас есть лишние деньги, удобнее открыть депозитную карточку на $500, тогда уже вам будет легче поддерживать 30% рубеж.
- Если вы хотите проверить, можно ли вам уже открыть новую карточку, воспользуйтесь услугой pre-approval. Это не влияет на кредитный рейтинг и вы сможете посмотреть, какая карточка вам может подойти лучше всего.
- При выборе карты, смотрите на процент интереса(APR), если вы будете выплачивать баланс частями, в несколько месяцев, а не закрывать все сразу.
- Не закрывайте вашу первую кредитку. От нее считается срок вашей кредитной истории. Это тоже один из факторов, который сильно влияет на ваш кредитный рейтинг.
- Я перешла на мобильный контракт через 2,5 месяца после получения своей первой кредитной карточки, и мне даже дали два телефона с первым взносом всего в 50$ за каждый. Поэтому до рубежа в 6 месяцев, имеет смысл попробовать подключить контракт на связь, чтобы платить меньше и получить бонусом новые гаджеты. Своевременная оплата связи так же хорошо влияет на ваш рейтинг.
